# Welcome to the Yard

TradersYard Challenges & Tournaments

## How TradersYard Challenges work?&#x20;

### 1. Start a Challenge

In a first step, you need to enter into one of our Trading Challenges.

### 2. Receive a Signal-Provider-Contract

After successfully passing Phase 1 and Phase 2 in your challenge, you reach the Funded-Account level of a challenge. As Funded-Account trader you will be offered a Signal-Provider Contract. You will trade on our TradersYard BrokerageServer with a virtual account and virtual trading assets and give buy and sell signals for the instruments you decide to trade. TradersYard then will evaluate your trades based on our internal risk-metrics to decide if TradersYard will enter a trade on our own prop-trading company-account based on your signal.

### 3. Earn Real Money

You will be remunerated for your trading signals after you reach the next level in your challenge. The details on how much pay-outs you can achieve on passing a level can be seen here: [Account Scaling](https://docs.tradersyard.com/traderchallenge/account-scaling)

### 4. Profit and Growth

As you enhance and develop your trading abilities, you have the opportunity to advance through our various account tiers, grow your virtual capital base and hence increase the chance of higher real-money-payouts.&#x20;

# Overview

At **TradersYard**, we empower traders not only through professional **Prop Trading Challenges** but also through competitive and exciting **Trading Tournaments**.

While **Challenges** focus on reaching predefined targets under strict rules (documented [here](broken://pages/r9I8ZEfbnQ4BOiNtaXJ5)) **Tournaments** are all about **competing against other traders**. Your success is measured by how well you perform in relation to others — it’s not about passing a level, but about outperforming your peers.

Tournaments vary in theme, rules, and prizes — ranging from **free-to-play events** with real rewards, to **exclusive competitions** requiring an entry fee. Whether you’re a short-term scalper or long-term swing trader, there’s something for everyone.

## Key Characteristics

* 📊 **Competition-based**: Tournaments rank all participants by **total profit & loss (P\&L)**.
* ⏳ **Join anytime**: You can join **before** the tournament starts or even **after it has already begun**. The earlier you join, the more time you have to accumulate profits and climb the leaderboard.
* 🪙 **Free or Paid**: Some tournaments are free to enter, others may have an entry fee depending on the prize pool.
* 🧾 **Individual Rules**: Tradable instruments, duration, and conditions differ from one tournament to another. You’ll always find a **“Rules & Prizes”** section per event.
* 🔒 **Privacy by Nickname**: Your rank and results are shown under your **nickname**, not your real name. You can change this in your **Profile Settings**, otherwise a nickname is generated automatically.

# How to enter

You can access all tournaments from the **left-hand sidebar** within the TradersYard platform:

1. Click on **Tournaments** in the **Challenges** section.
2. This will open the **"All Tournaments"** page, where current, upcoming, and finished tournaments are displayed.
3. Join by clicking on the red button

<figure><img src="https://412267888-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F-MKZSy2rJRyvGscb2MZi-1703796690%2Fuploads%2FF5nUVVvoLQRFCVMMy4gU%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=a7b7683b-942e-48ad-bb6b-7575269522a3" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. Afterwards, you can open the TradersYard [Web Platform](https://platform.tradersyard.com/app) and sign in

This will open the TradersYard Web platform, where your tournament account is automatically set up.

* **Challenge Accounts** begin with: `TC-xx-xxxxx`

Make sure you select the **correct account ID** when trading.

Note: You can also join through [Desktop & Mobile platfroms](https://docs.tradersyard.com/start-trading)

* **DAY** – The order remains active **until the end of the trading day**. If not triggered, it will be **automatically cancelled**.
* **GTC (Good Till Cancelled)** – The order stays active **indefinitely** until you **manually cancel it**.
* **GTD (Good Till Date)** – The order stays active **until a specific date/time** you set. If not triggered by then, it is **automatically cancelled**.

# How to Set Partial Stop Loss and Take Profit Orders

Partial Stop Loss and Take Profit can be achieved by placing an opposite pending order with a smaller quantity than your open position. This allows you to automatically close only part of your trade while keeping the remaining position open.

### Which order should you use? <a href="#h_f93c39108e" id="h_f93c39108e"></a>

| **Open Position** | **Partial Take Profit** | **Partial Stop Loss** |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| Buy / Long | Sell Limit above the current price | Sell Stop below the current price |
| Sell / Short | Buy Limit below the current price | Buy Stop above the current price |

### Partial Take Profit Example <a href="#h_1fc937747f" id="h_1fc937747f"></a>

Suppose you have a Buy position of 0.10 lots on XAU/USD and want to close 0.04 lots when gold reaches a higher price.

1. Select XAU/USD.
2. Open the Order Form.
3. Select Limit.
4. Choose Sell, because your existing position is a Buy position.
5. Enter 0.04 lots as the quantity.
6. Enter your desired Take Profit price above the current market price.
7. Submit the Sell Limit order.

### Result <a href="#h_a9570d80fc" id="h_a9570d80fc"></a>

When XAU/USD reaches the selected price:

* The Sell Limit order for 0.04 lots is executed.
* 0.04 lots of your original Buy position are closed.
* Any profit generated on those 0.04 lots becomes realized profit.
* The remaining 0.06 lots stay open and continue to gain or lose value with the market.
* The original position is reduced; a separate Sell position is not opened, provided the pending order quantity does not exceed the open Buy quantity.

### Partial Stop Loss Example <a href="#h_a7d355267f" id="h_a7d355267f"></a>

Suppose you have a Buy position of 0.10 lots on XAU/USD and want to close 0.03 lots if the price falls.

1. Select XAU/USD.
2. Open the Order Form.
3. Select Stop.
4. Choose Sell.
5. Enter 0.03 lots as the quantity.
6. Enter your desired Stop Loss price below the current market price.
7. Submit the Sell Stop order.

### Result <a href="#h_b5ba53ce37" id="h_b5ba53ce37"></a>

When XAU/USD falls to the selected price:

* The Sell Stop order for 0.03 lots is executed.
* 0.03 lots of your original Buy position are closed.
* The loss on those 0.03 lots becomes a realized loss.
* The remaining 0.07 lots stay open.
* The remaining position can still recover, continue into profit, or be managed with another Stop Loss or Take Profit order.

### *Note:* <a href="#h_1a4c2ba81d" id="h_1a4c2ba81d"></a>

These pending orders are not automatically linked as a partial Stop Loss or Take Profit pair. After one order executes, review the remaining position and update or cancel the other pending orders where necessary.

Never place an opposite pending order larger than your remaining position. Otherwise, it may close the position completely and open a new position in the opposite direction.
